About the College
Moreh College is situated at Chikim Village, Tengnoupal District, Manipur. It was established in the year 1992 with an aim to cater to the needs of higher education of the people of the International border town in particular and of the district in general. The college is located at a distance of 110 km from Imphal, the capital city of Manipur along the Asian Highway No. 1 amidst charming natural beauty the college is permanently affiliated with Manipur University and received central assistance under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission since 2010. The college at one time a Government aided college became a full-fledged Government college on 21st August 2019.
Moreh town, a cosmopolitan structure having a multi-ethnic composition of Manipur and mainland India has been isolated from the rest of the country in the education sector, particularly in higher education. In view of the absence of higher education institutions and the need for it in the area, Moreh College was established with the following main objective:
1. To provide higher education of the people of backward hill area particularly ST, SC, OBC and minorities.
2. To promote communal harmony and reduce communal tension.
3. To strengthen the human wall against HIV/AIDS, drug trafficking and other anti-social elements in the international border town by means of providing education and awareness among the youth.
4. To establish and promote a model Indian Institute of Higher learning up-to University level in the international border area that can attract foreign students specially Myanmar and to promote Indo-Myanmar bilateral relation.
